On every landscape, there is a community that calls it home. Senegal’s savannahs are no different. 

However, excessive cattle grazing and unsustainable agricultural practices are slowly turning these vital ecosystems into deserts.

Millions of people in Senegal depend on healthy savannahs for their livelihood. That’s why, together with our partner organization Hommes et Terre, we’re fighting to reverse the desertification of the Senegalese savannah.

Join me on a trip through Bakel, in eastern Senegal. You’ll meet the communities growing trees in one of the harshest places on earth — and succeeding in doing so!
