Here’s a fact that might surprise you: on average, most trees you plant won't survive. But don't fret, it's entirely normal.

There are numerous factors that influence the survival of a young sapling out there in the wild. From the ever-changing patterns of rainfall due to climate change, floods, wildfires, or simply the whims of fate.*

Typically, a survival rate of 50-60% after three years is considered respectable. However, our tree-planting partners in India are achieving an astounding 85% survival rate over the same period.

What’s their secret? That’s exactly what I asked myself. Join me on a trip to the magical Sundarbans in  West Bengal, India!

*Don’t worry, the Ecosia tree counter only reflects trees that survive for more than three years. It’s an accurate reflection of the trees you've helped us plant.
