Over the past few months, we’ve all been struck by how frontline hospital staff around the world have been working tirelessly in the fight against COVID-19. To help our UK users show their appreciation for these incredible efforts, we’ve teamed up with two tree-planting charities in the UK and launched #GrowYourLove, to plant trees around NHS hospitals up and down the country.
In order to fund the creation of these natural spaces, Ecosia will dedicate 100% of its revenues from searches made by UK users every Thursday for the rest of May. Together with Trees for Cities and The NHS Forest, we will plant trees at NHS sites in Wales, Cornwall, Liverpool, Bristol, Newcastle, Nottingham and London, during planting season which begins in October.
Why trees?
The native trees in parks and green spaces you help us plant will be dedicated to NHS staff as a living monument and lasting expression of gratitude for their efforts across the UK. It is our first UK project, and we’re incredibly excited that it can be for such a cause.
The creation of green spaces around hospitals will contribute to supporting the mental and physical wellbeing of NHS key workers in the long-term - and improve air quality too. (According to the World Health Organisation, a quarter of UK hospitals have dangerously high levels of air pollution.)
How can I get involved?
Across the UK, people are showing their love for the NHS by clapping for carers every Thursday. By searching with Ecosia on Thursdays you can help the NHS from home. Simply get searching with Ecosia on your computer or phone and watch your tree counter grow!
