Coffee for peace

Cauca and Tolima were key areas during the armed conflict between the Colombian government and the paramilitary and narco cartels known as FARC. Following the peace agreement, these areas are undergoing a major transition. Coffee agroforestry systems create an alternative to illicit crops formerly planted in these areas. They're also an alternative to mining activities and unsustainable livestock farming practices that threaten to spread throughout the region.
